9L - Shabu, M0KRI has arrived in Sierra Leone, but two boxes containing all his radio gear have been left behind and will not arrive until 27 November at the earliest. A6 - A60WRC (QSL via EA7FTR) is the special callsign to be used by members of the Emirates Amateur Radio Society during the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) taking place in Dubai from 20 November to 15 December. Individual operators may append a serial number to the special callsign, and be QRV as A60WRC/0, A60WRC/1, etc. (see qrz.com for the QSL routes).
A9 - Celebrating the Kingdom of Bahrain's National Day, the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society will be active as A91ND on 1-16 December. QSL via EC6DX.
CE - Several Chilean stations will honour Marco A. Quijada (CE1EW), who died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 50 on 16 November. The tribute to "thank him for his dedication and commitment" will take place during the period of 24-27 November. Look for CB1EW, CB2EW, CB3EW, CB4EW, CB5EW, CB6EW, CB7EW, CB8EW, XR1EW, XR2EW, XR3EW, XR4EW, XR5EW, XR6EW, XR7EW, XR8EW, 3G1EW, 3G2EW, 3G3EW, 3G4EW, 3G5EW, 3G6EW, 3G7EW and 3G8EW to be active on the HF bands on various modes, including entries in the CQ WW DX CW Contest.
CN - Yannick, F6FYD will be active as CN2YD from Marrakech, Morocco from 1 December to 15 March 2024. He plans to operate as CN2YD/p from IOTA group AF-065 sometime during his stay. QSL via F6FYD. [TNX F6AJA]
FK - Jean-Louis, F5NHJ is active again as FK/F5NHJ from New Caledonia's main island (Grande Terre, OC-032), with side trips to nearby Ile des Pins (also OC-032) until mid-January 2023. He operates digital modes, CW and SSB on 80-6m. He will upload his log to Club Log and LoTW.
G - GB0WHO, GB1WHO, GB2WHO, GB4WHO, GB5WHO, GB6WHO, GB8WHO and GB9WHO are the special callsigns for members of the Chertsey Radio Club to celebrate the 60th anniversary of science fiction cult series "Doctor Who" until 20 December. QSL via LoTW and eQSL. Broadcast by the BBC, "Doctor Who" has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the TV's longest-running sci-fi show in the world. The series began on 23 November 1963 and the original run aired 694 episodes consecutively across 26 seasons until 1989; it was revived in 2005 after 16 years off the screen.
HS - Brad, VK2BY will be active again as HS0ZNR from the Nam Yuen district in northeastern Thailand from 6 December to 14 January. He will be QRV on 160-10 metres, and will focus on working stations "that contibute to LoTW and eQSL". QSL direct to VK2BY and LoTW.
I - Alessandro, IZ4WNA will be active as IZ4WNA/IA5 from Elba Island (EU-028) on 28-30 November. He will operate SSB and FT8 on 80-10m.
I - Members of ARI Bergamo will be active as II2GLNO on 1-2 December. They will operate SSB and CW on 80, 40 and 20 metres. The special callsign memorializes the 100th anniversary of the Gleno Dam disaster (1 December 1923), when the middle section of the dam collapsed and caused widespread flooding that killed some 400 people. KH8S - K8R is another RIB (Rig In a Box) operation that will take place from Swains Island on 22-27 November, including an entry in the CQ WW DX CW Contest. "Because it is not possible to anchor the boat at Swains", AA7JV says, "the station will be entirely remotely operated by HA7RY and HA2NA", while the two on the "Magnet" (KN4EEI and AA7JV himself) "will be busy the entire time keeping the boat on station near the island". Outside the contest K8R will concentrate on 160 metres at local sunset and sunrise. QSL via HA7RY and LoTW. Please note that the same callsign was used by HA7RY and HA5YG from mainland American Samoa on 14-18 September.
PA - Celebrating Christmas and the New Year, special callsigns PA23XMAS and PD23SANTA will be active on 1-31 December, while PD24HNY will be QRV until 31 January. QSL cards will not be issued, but a certificate will be available (see https://www.qrz.com/db/PA23XMAS).
S5 - Special event station S524PMC will be active from 8 December to 8 January 2024 to promote the PMC Contest, sponsored by the Radio Club Slovenj Gradec (S59DCD). The International Association of Peace Messenger Cities was established in 1988 to recognize and encourage the role and responsibility cities have in creating a culture of peace. The PMC Contest, promoting contacts between stations located in the Peace Messenger Cities and the rest of the world, will be held on 6-7 January. SV - Special callsign SX25GTC will be in use on 1-15 December to celebrate the 25th anniversary since the formation of the Greek Telegraphy Club (https://raag.org/gtc-club-en/). Look for activity on 160-6 metres CW. QSL via LoTW. Certificates will be available, see qrz.com for information.
V4 - Bob, WX4G (V47RB and V48A) has cancelled his 20 November - 1 December trip to St. Kitts [425DXN 1697]. Now he expects to go there on 13-20 February 2024.
V6 - After spending nine full days on Satawal Atoll (V62S), Cezar VE3LYC commenced operations as V62P from Puluwat Atoll (OC-155) just before 6 UTC on 24 November. As of 21 November, the situation appeared rather uncertain: "I have specifically requested a minimum of four operating days from Puluwat, but will see what happens in the end. Please refrain from making multiple contacts with V62P, so that more hams can have a chance at logging the rare OC-155. All this change of schedule has a pretty negative effect on me, amplified by the fact that I didn't feel well for the past couple of days". As an added inconvenience, Cezar's laptop failed a few days ago, and now he is logging manually on paper.
VK_ant - Dave, VK2JDS will be active occasionally as VK0DS from Davis Station, Antarctica between December 2023 and November 2024. The bands that he hopes to be on are "some of HF, possibly WSPR on 6 metres (depending on local science projects), 2 metres EME (only on occasions when I get time off and conditions are favourable), possibly 23cm EME". Nothing is certain, he says, as "weather conditions and station duties will take precedence". QSL direct to home call and LoTW.
VP2V - Look for VP2V/AG9A, VP2V/K2KW, VP2V/KD4D and VP2V/W9RE to be active holiday style from Anegada, British Virgin Islands (NA-023) on 4-12 December. They will operate CW, SSB and digital modes mostly on 20-10 metres. Main activity will be during the ARRL 10-Meter Contest (9-10 December) as VP2VMM (QSL via LoTW, Club Log's OQRS, or via KU9C).
VP8 - Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Falkland Islands Government Aviation Service, special event station VP8FLY will be active from the north east end of Stanley airport, Falkland Islands (SA-002) during the month of December, and especially on 19 December. QSL direct to VP8LP.
