D4 - Harald, DF2WO will be active again as D44TWO from Sao Tiago (AF-005), Cape Verde on 3-21 January. He will operate FT8 with some SSB and CW on 160-6 metres, and via the QO-100 satellite. QSL via M0OXO's OQRS.
DL - Celebrating "100 years of broadcasting in Germany", special callsign DB100RDF will be in use from 1 January to 31 December. QSL via the bureau, or direct to DO2PZ. The first official radio entertainment programme in Germany was broadcast on 29 October 1923.
EA - Special callsign EG1NMP will be active on 7-10 January in remembrance of the wreck of the "Monte Palomares" (10 January 1966). QSL only via LoTW and eQSL. The Spanish freighter sank in the North Atlantic, and only six of her 38 crew were rescued. One of those survivors was the ship's electrician Manuel Gonzalez, VK3DRQ, whose first-hand account of that tragic sinking can be found on https://maritimeradio.org/in-distress/1966-monte-palomares/.
FW - Darren, VK4MAP will be active holiday style as FW/VK4MAP from Wallis & Futuna in late December until "the first half of January". He will operate SSB on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres. QSL direct to home call. [TNX DX World]
GM - Special event station GB2KW will be active again on 1-28 January from near Inverness, Scotland using vintage equipment manufactured by KW Electronics Ltd during the 1960s and 1970s. QSL via LoTW. Also active from England, especially over the "KW Weekend" (7-8 January), are expected to be GB0KWD, GB4KW, GB5KW and GB8KW.
KP4 - Manuel, WP4TZ will be operating portable from Isla de Vieques (NA-249), Puerto Rico from 29 December to 3 January. He will operate SSB on 40-10 metres. [TNX DX World]
LA - LA100K is the special callsign for the Akademisk Radioklubb, LA1K to celebrate the 100th anniversary since its foundation. Based in Trondheim, it is the oldest amateur radio club in Norway. The special callsign will be in use from 1 January until 31 December. QSL via the bureau, or direct.
LZ - Radio Club Blagovestnik (LZ1KCP) will use six special callsigns during 2023 to honour as many different Orthodox saints: LZ319TS (January and February), LZ522ME (March and April), LZ78KA (May and June), LZ1015RW (July and August), LZ288MS (September and October), and LZ600PA (November and December). PJ4 - Jeff, WA2BOT, who has been QRV as PJ4/WA2BOT from Bonaire since 20 December, will be using PJ4JP during the RTTY Roundup. VU - Special event station AT18BSG will be activated on 1-15 January for The 18th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides to be held in Pali, Rajashthan. QSL via VU2NRO.
VU - Once again the West Bengal Radio Club (VU2WB) will provide assistance during the Ganga Sagar Mela on Sagar Island (AS-153). This is the annual gathering of Hindu pilgrims to take a holy dip in the Ganges, where the river merges with the Bay of Bengal. Expect some activity on the HF bands as AT2WBRC on 5-17 January. W - The Straight Key Century Club's annual on-air event, commemorating the club's founding in 2006 and celebrating the original instruments of early radiotelegraphy (straight key, bug and cootie keys), will run on 2-31 January. Look for K3Y to be aired from the ten US call areas (K3Y/0 through K3Y/9), plus /KH6, /KL7 and /KP4.
